  • Happy National Splurge Day - The Fashion Way!

0 comments / Posted by April Marin

Yes, June 18th is National Splurge Day and while it isn’t a Bank Holiday, still try to save this day dedicated to trading yourself to anything that you’ve been wanting or craving for the past half year. There are a lot of things that you can indulge into – food trips, shopping, going on a vacation and many more.

If you are still undecided where to treat yourself, we’ve got you covered. Believe it or not, most female Americans, especially the married ones don’t really splurge on clothing, even if they have the money. June 18th is the best day to treat yourself into a four-season-clothing haul. Not only this will really make you happy, this will definitely be useful for upcoming occasions that may need dressing up.

    Summer

Do the summer clothing shopping first. June falls in the Summer Season, and since you want to be out most sunny days, you may run out of good summer clothes to wear. Invest on Summer Dresses, colorful shorts, flip flops and cute bandanas which would not cost you an expensive deal of cash as everything is on light garments.

    Fall

After the hot weather from Summer, here comes the picturesque Autumn. As it is probably the coziest season, it’s time to revamp your closet and add some new items that you can wear for Fall. Invest on leather skirts, cropped sweaters, leggings and trench coats as they’re going to be your best friend on every Sunday date or Friday night out.

    Winter

Okay, we say winter, I say layering. New York’s temperature can be cruel most of the time especially on this season, so you might want to add a couple new leggings or pants to your closet. New socks and mittens are an absolute must if you will be walking in and out of establishments. If you’re always in the city, it’s time to purchase a new long coat that will accompany you through the thick snow and cold weather.

    Spring

And just as Winter passes, spring is reborn. Outdoor colors change from drab to fab. Be prepared to welcome the season with colorful wardrobe. Invest on lightweight and colorful sweaters, floral blouses, and pastel-colored heels. If you’re an office girl, lazy-morning-friendly dresses are your best bet, just add a good blazer and you’re good to go.

  • What to wear for a BBQ

0 comments / Posted by April Marin

Aren’t outdoor parties one of the best part of ending spring and welcoming summer? ‘Tis the season for sumptuous and fun grilling and you might have received a lot of invites from friends, colleagues and relatives, so it’s best to be ready with your stylish yet comfortable outfit.

Make sure to consider your comfort when choosing your outfit as it will help you enjoy the event more. Your footwear should be stylish as well, however, the location will determine what the appropriate footwear will be.

Here are some tips on what to wear for different types of BBQ party:

    Business BBQ

If your office colleagues are setting up an annual cookout, it’s best to select office-friendly hues such as blue, black and whites. The simpler, the better. Pull off a plain top and a white pair of pants and finish it off with a fab necklace, and you’re ready to party! We love this West Hampton Sweater Poncho in Black – it is a casual sweater but it looks stylish when worn with white pants and vintage beads.

    House BBQ

Go for clothes which are made of cotton especially if the day is hot, to help your skin breathe while enjoying the BBQ party. Colorful sundresses are the best bet to House BBQs as they look cool and comfortable, especially when paired with sandals or sneakers. Keep in mind that it is a BBQ party so you might be sitting on low chairs, which will make your skirt go up – make sure your legs are covered in nice length and you’re good to go.

    Beach BBQ

This has got to be everyone’s favorite, as it involves the beach! You have a lot of choices when it comes to what to wear to a Beach BBQ party, it depends on the activities you will be prepared to do when out and about in the midday sun. Maxi dresses are great if you want to go swimming because you can easily wear your swimsuit underneath them. If there will be no swimming involved, you can go for a Denim pair of shorts, a white tank top worn with April Marin’s Montauk Tassel Scarf – this gives you the best beach-chic vibe especially if you go for the aqua one!
