Set Sail in this Number

Get in line with spring’s most linear look:

The classic nautical stripes

nautical-stripes-

This fashion staple is a timeless trend. The nautical stripes have been seen from Coco Chanel in the 1930’s, Audrey Tatou playing Chanel in the movie Coco Avant Chanel, and the fabulous Audrey Hepburn from the 1960’s.

Pair these classic stripes with a single long-chain necklace.

5 Easy Tips

The warm weather is approaching. Try these fashion tricks to appear slimmer and sleeker

Boat neck necklines have a slimming effect on the upper body.

Pulling your hair up and away from your shoulders will peel away pounds. Try your hair in a high ponytail and you’ll be surprised at how much slimmer your face looks.

Asymmetrical stripes have a lengthening effect on your upper body.

Oversized clothes don’t camouflage problem areas!! Excess fabric only makes you look bulkier.

Everyone has a feature they know works for them. Instead of always focusing on covering up what you don’t like, learn to flaunt what you do like.

These pictures feature an asymmetrical print top and a boatneck shirt.

Focus on the positive and don’t try to hide under your clothes !

Pastel Eyes That Pop

Spring’s beauty trend is the pastel smoky eye

Michael Kors’ spring 2010 collection featured palettes of icy blues and purples with pops of cream, white, and black. All swirl around the white of the eye, with bold black liner and fringe as a frame.

To create this vibrant look:

  • Began by using champagne and rosy color: mix the two together and dabbing onto the lid as a base.
  • Then add fondant (white) and contoured with amethyst (purple). Also apply the amethyst underneath the eye with a wet brush.
  • Next came a touch of gold shadow in the inner corner and black cream liner on the upper and lower lash line. Use a wet brush to wedge the product in between lashes.
  • For a bold finish, lashes received a healthy coating of black mascara.

Look Chic and Sophisticated

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Tailored belts are back in a big way, with a wide variety of styles that will suit almost any trend or style sensibility. Adding tailored belts are a great way to update your style and polish your look.

Tailored belts look refined in beautiful earthy and darker toned leathers.

Wear the tailored belts on natural waist or slightly higher.

Rather than pairing it with jeans, this season’s hottest look is pairing the tailored belt with ultra-feminine styles such as ruffles, lacy fabrics, and crochet. The slightly rugged element of a tailored belt helps balance out these pretty, very girly styles.

Tailored belts are one of the most intriguing looks of the season.

If you want to get noticed consider the color tangerine

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Tangerine is vibrant and mentally stimulating as well as sociable.

Use it to get people thinking or to get them talking.

How to wear tangerine correctly:

  • Use caution when mixing tangerine and pink. You don’t want to recreate a vibrating, 60s psychedelic look.
  • Try a dash of orange with deep purple or a dash of purple with a bit of tangerine, tempered by lots of mellow yellow or white for an eye-catching look that’s not overpowering.
  • Look sophisticated when featuring tangerine with blues, grays, and other neutrals.
  • Get tropical when tangerine is paired with green.

AprilMarin’s Lily Dress is available in tangerine!
